IB Thermal, 01/12/2015 : In reaffirmation of its commitment for HIV/AIDs free world, Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (OPGC) commemorated the World AIDS Day by organising a two day long (30th November & 1st December) awareness programme in the peripheral area of IB Thermal Power Station. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, Senior Medical Officer OPGC by flagging off AIDS Awareness Rath(Vehicle) from the main gate of IB Thermal Campus on Monday. The Rath moved from village to village of Telenpali and Kusuraloi panchayats sensitizing the community especially migrant labours, truckers and vulnerable group about the cause and ill effects of HIV/AIDS on the affected person and society. Today on the second day of the event, awareness was created through street play, distribution of leaflets, posters at different places and organising HIV/AIDs awareness competitions among local youth. Conceptualized by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing of OPGC and carried out jointly with OPGC medical team, the programme aimed at creating awareness on the deadly disease among the community in general and vulnerable group in particular.
