- OPGC’s ITPS tops the CEA list for state sector thermal power units with 84.5% PLF in the last financial year (April 2015-March 2016) followed by APGENCO’s 78.45%
Bhubaneswar, 23.04.2016: Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) added yet another feather to its illustrious cap of achievements by achieving highest annual PLF (Plant Load Factor) of 84.5% amongst all the State Sector thermal power units in the country in the financial year 2015-2016. As per the report published by Central Electricity Authority, Ib Thermal Power Station of OPGC has achieved highest 84.5% PLF in the FY16 spanning from April 2015 to March 2016 and is followed by Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO) which achieved 78.45% PLF.
During the last financial year, OPGC’s consistent efforts to maintain efficient power production at its Ib Thermal Power Station located in Jharsuguda district of Odisha, as evident from the report of CEA, has certainly aided Odisha in meeting the power requirements in the state.
Currently, OPGC is operating two thermal power units of 210 MW each at its Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS) in Ib Valley area of Jharsuguda district in Odisha. It is worthwhile to mention here that OPGC is expanding its capacity with a capital outlay of Rs. 11,547 Crore by setting up of 2 units of power plant of 660MW capacity each at Ib Thermal Power station which are under construction. The said units are scheduled to be commissioned towards end of the financial year 2017-18.
