GUIDE LINE FOR SUPPLY & TRANSPORTATION OF HYDROGEN CYLINDERS
1. Cylinders are to be thouroughly checked with soap solution at supplier’s works to ensure “no leak condition” before dispatch.
2. During transportation the cylinders shall have the valve protection cover in place.
3. Cylinders valve caps must be in place during transit.
4. Cylinders will be securely supported at all times during transportation.
5. Smoking is prohibited during loading,unloading & transportation of the cylinders.
6. Ignition sources,open flames,sparks,sorces of heat, non-intrinsically sealed electrical or electronic
equipment should never be allowed near the truck carrying cylinders.
7. Portable CO2 fire extinguishers shall be available inside the vehicle for fire emergency.
8. The vehicle should have spark arrestor on its exhaust pipe.
9. Cylinders should never be subjected to a temperature above 52deg.C.
10. Never place cylinders where those may become part of an electrical circuit.
11. Never use a flame to detect gas leaks.Only use soap water solution. .
12. Cylinders shall be transported in open body vehicles.
13. In case of emergency, call the supplier and the user.Inform to local police& fire station.
14. TREM CARD & MSDS should be readily available with the person accompanying the cylinders.
15. The person carrying the materials shold be trained on hazard characteristic of the material& emergency handling.
16. The vehicle should have leveling with name of chemical,UN hazard classification number,nature etc clearly visible on back side.
17. Park vehicle at an isolated place where there is no heat,spark or ignition source.
18. In case of breaking out of fire the driver is to stop traffic at least 300 meters from the vehicle.
19. The vehicle should not be parked in congested area.
20. The vehicle should have valid certificate of fitness,registration,insurance & license for transporting Hydrogen Cylinder.
21. The transporting personnel(Drivers & others) should not take any type of alcoholic drink or drug during transportation
22. Persons coming with the vehicle for delivering the cylinders at ITPS should follow EHS guidelines of OPGC.
